What is good about banking jobs?

What is good about banking jobs?

There are many cons about bank job. Since you asked only good ones, I will try to list out few..
  • Every 3 years you will be transferred to a new place, probably out of state. If you like different cultures, definitely it is a good one. Your child can learn many languages.
  • If your bank is a lead bank (all the Govt txn will be routed through lead bank) you have to work 9 AM to 9PM, good one if you like longer hours.
  • You will be given concession in loans, if you calculate properly, it is almost equal to normal rates. You will avail all the loans because of concessions. You will get peanuts after all EMI deductions, means need not worry of savings and holidays.
  • If a loan is sanctioned (even if you had signed a courier receipt concerned with the account) by you is NPA, you can have a chance of visiting CBI and police station.
  • A part from bank products, you will be forced to sell insurance, good one if you like cross selling.
  • You will get promotions. Even if you work hard or pass time. All will be treated equally.
Okay, let me end the sarcastic answer..
Real good ones:
  • It feels good, when you sanction a crop loan to a farmer and help his crop grow.
  • It feels awesome, when you help a young entrepreneur to fulfill his dreams.
  • It feels fantastic, when you help a student in getting education loan and reach his goal.
  • It feels blessed, when you serve a pensioner.
  • It feels adventures, when you were deputed to other departments (I once worked as returning officer in a polling booth in old Hyderabad city and handled most notorious party. Once deputed to CBI and helped in conducting a raid)
  • It feels satisfied, when you serve for rural India.
Bank salaries are okay if you work in your home state. State bank employees get perks almost equal to salary. Full salary can be saved, if expenses are planned wisely.
You can have exposure in dealing with big corporate loans and forex. If you gain good knowledge in these departments, you can end up in a key position in big corporate.
Overall, bank job is one of the challenging jobs in India.

What do I need to do to become a police officer in India?

What do I need to do to become a police officer in India?

There are many ways to join the Police service. Below are the entry points into this service:
  1. Police-constable - Class 3 service
  2. Police sub-inspector - State PSC - Class 2 service
  3. Deputy S.P. - State PSC - Class 1 service
  4. Assist S.P. - UPSC - Group A service
Now, let's understand Police service hierarchy:
  1. Constable
  2. Senior constable
  3. Head constable
  4. Assist sub inspector
  5. Police sub inspector
  6. Assist police inspector
  7. Police inspector
  8. Senior police inspector
  9. Deputy S.P.(State service) / Assist S.P.(joins through UPSC CSE) / Assist C.P. (Urban)
  10. S.P. (Rural) / DCP (Urban)
  11. D.I.G (Rural) / Additional C.P. (Urban)
  12. I.G. / Joint C.P.
  13. A.D.G.P / Special C.P.
  14. D.G.P / C.P.
I have friends at all these levels and I think each position has its own pros and cons.
Like e.g. Police Sub Inspector - very few chances of frequent transfers; you get to work into your home state/district; good connections within district… but there are 2–3 PSIs in every police station, limited powers, limited facilities, at the time of retirement you can reach upto Dy. SP.
e.g. ASP via UPSC - fewer chances of getting home cadre; frequent transfers; but more power and authority, highly respected, high social prestige; till retirement can reach upto DGP that is the highest post in police service.
e.g. Dy. SP - will be working within home cadre; more power and authority; high social prestige; but less frequent promotions; at max I.G.
